TIPS TO LEARN ENGLISH WITH CONFIDENCE

If you are seeking reasons to stay motivated while learning a subject be it music, art or a new language, the focus always has to be on the why?

Why did you choose to do it in the first place?

Is it something that makes you feel happy?

Do you feel it will make your life better?

What do you think you can possibly achieve by mastering it?

Where do you see yourself if you achieve mastery over it?

How committed are you towards this goal?

And how much time are you willing to dedicate towards it on a monthly, weekly or daily basis?

Now let’s talk about learning English. To start with it’s the global language and mastery over it gives you access and audience to a much wider world. Whether you are a musician, a trader, an artisan or anything else, you can share your story, your ideas and your craft to a wider mass. Mastery over the English language gives you mastery over one-half of your worries. The half that I am talking about here is the need to communicate. No wonder be it parents of the new-gen kids or adults trying to fit into an increasingly globalised world, everyone understands the importance attached to the mastery of the English language. So the English language is like a slice of cake and everyone wants a piece of it. However, like anything else mastering English isn’t a piece of cake either and some may find it difficult to continue and give up midway. So what can you possibly do to stay focussed and stay motivated?

For starters, some might find it difficult to keep pace with the lessons. Some might even find it embarrassing to reveal that they didn’t get a certain section of the lesson when others did. Eventually, they lag to a point from where there is no coming back. Adults may still be more vocal about their incomprehension but kids sometimes find it very difficult to reach out. They may end up staying silent and straying further from their lessons each day. But you need not worry. There are plenty of English learning centres out there who focus on problems like these and help kids move on at their ease-of-pace. Kumon is one such place where they carry out a diagnostic test to assess the child’s just-right level of learning. Once the appropriate level is set the kids are given the liberty to level up at their own pace. Through repetitive learning, the concepts are built into their head in such a way that things become crystal clear. The specially designed small-steps worksheet helps them retrace their past mistakes so that it’s not repeated in the future. Self-learning methods help develop their logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. They focus on building a strong learning base so that kids stay motivated to learn and end up becoming effective readers and learners.

When it comes to learning a language, motivation is one of the most important factors. Choose materials you find meaningful and interesting. Find topics you are interested in. This will prevent you from getting bored. Treat English as a tool towards driving your aspirations and for your purpose read and listen to the materials you find inspiring. Maintaining diversity in your materials should keep you motivated and help you improve your skills at a faster rate.
